Want to create spooktacular Halloween party decorations on a budget? Follow these low-cost decorating tips to create a howling good party!

Creating a frightfully fun scene for a Halloween party doesn't mean you have to spend a fortune. Just use a few (or all) of these tips to create party decorations that won't scare your budget!

Haunting Hands

These scary hands are a breeze to make! Simply stuff a pair of rubber gloves with tissue paper, newspaper or cotton batting, and then use your imagination to decorate them: spray paint, gauze wrap, fake fingernails, rings, a watch, fake insects, or red "blood" paint.

Jack-O'-Lantern Garland

Draw jack-o'-lantern outlines on orange paper, making sure to draw long stems on top. Cut out the jack-o'-lanterns and then draw on faces with markers or crayons. Fold the stems halfway down, and then attach them to yarn or string with tape, glue or staples. When attaching the pumpkins, make sure that the stems 'fold' over the yarn or string. Now you're all set to drape this garland across a room, over a window or from lighting. You can also make a ghost garland in the same way!

Egg Carton Bats

Using egg cartons to make bats couldn't be easier! First, separate 3 cups from an egg carton. Cut out part of the bottoms of the two outside cups so that they look like bat wings. Then just add eyes and a mouth with a marker (or you can use googly eyes). To hang, just attach it to a string or rubber band. Feel free to decorate your bats with paint, spider webs or anything else that grabs your imagination!

Egg Carton Spiders

Egg cartons also make fun spiders! Start by separating one cup from an egg carton. Next, make 8 small holes (4 on each side) at the base of the cup. The point of a scissors works well for this. Then insert a pipe cleaner into each of the holes to create legs. Last, just add a face and decorate however you choose!

Bat Clips

Cut out bat wings and bodies from black construction paper, card stock or fun foam sheets. Make sure the bat bodies are large enough to cover clothespins. Glue the bat parts to clothespins (wings first, and then bodies) and then add googly eyes to complete the look. These are easy to clip anywhere!

Lollipop Ghosts

These fun little ghosts not only make fun decorations, but they also make great party favors! To make these adorable little haunters, you'll need round lollipops, white tissues, googly eyes or black marker and ribbon, preferably black or orange. Using one or two tissues, place a lollipop in the center and then gather the tissues around the top of the lollipop. Secure the tissues around the top of the lollipop with ribbon. You will now have a ghost head (top of lollipop) and body (tissue that covers lollipop stick). Finish by adding googly eyes or drawing them on with a black marker.

Halloween Blood

More of an accent than an actual decoration, there are lots of uses for fake blood - and it couldn't be easier to make:

* 1 cup corn syrup
* 1 tbsp water
* 2 tbsp red food coloring
* 1 tsp yellow food coloring

Just mix all the ingredients together and you'll have one cup of Halloween "blood"!

Go Buggy

Creep everyone out with your own profusion of bugs and rodents. Bags of plastic bugs and various sizes of rodents are readily available - and usually inexpensive - around Halloween. Scatter them on tables, floors, walkways, windowsills - anywhere that needs a little spooking up.

Pumpkins Please

Mini pumpkins provide a wealth of decorating opportunities. You can paint them any color and glue nearly anything (felt, construction paper, pipe cleaners, googly eyes, etc.) to them, allowing you to create spiders, witches, monsters...just use your imagination!

Balloon Ghost

All you need to make this fun ghost is a white balloon and two white plastic grocery bags! Start by cutting the handles off the plastic grocery bags. If there are any markings on the bags, try to cut them out, too. Starting at the top of the bags, cut them into strips, leaving the bottom seam of each bag intact. Next, blow up a white balloon. Tape the plastic bags around one end of the balloon, forming a circle around it. (Hint: if you're planning on hanging the ghost as a decoration, be sure to leave the tied end of the balloon exposed at the top, so you can tie a string to it.) Finally, create a face on the balloon with a black marker, and you've got a frightfully fun ghost!

Halloween parties can be lots of fun - and lots of expense. But by using the decorating tips above, you can decorate for Halloween without breaking the bank.

Cute Newborn Baby Elephant Halloween Costume, 0-6 Months

Extremely cute and fun Baby Elephant costume ideally suited for Halloween, parties, playtime and more
Customer Review: Great baby costume!
Costume was a little big for my 3 month old daughter but all in all the costume looked great, and I received it very fast.

Halloween costumes make for wonderful props for make believe while celebrating this holiday season and everyone enjoys dressing up and masquerading as someone or something else, even if it is for only one day of the year. The most important thing about dressing up in a Halloween costume is to be comfortable, safe and enjoying yourself.

When considering the perfect Halloween costume, you will want to look around to find out what type of Halloween costumes are popular for this year, since every year brings new ideas for costumes and masks. Then you should decide what type of theme you would like to follow for picking your perfect costume. You will find there is a wide assortment of Halloween costumes for adults, children, infants, couples and teenagers.

Choosing your Halloween costume theme is a personal choice, whether you chose to masquerade as a cartoon character, ghouls and goblins, famous people and movie stars or something more traditional, you can pick the perfect Halloween costume and be the life of the party.

You can make a Halloween costume yourself if you like, which can be both creatively entertaining and fun, you can buy or even rent Halloween costumes, however you should keep in mind that when buying or renting a costume for Halloween that if you wait until the last minute, the choices for good costumes are already gone, so it is in your best interest to shop early in the season. The most important thing about picking the ultimate Halloween costume is to find one that is comfortable for you to wear and move around in, while wearing it to your Halloween costume and masquerade festivities.

Making your own costume can be lots of fun, since you allow your imagination to run freely. One cute idea for children is to take various colored, blown up balloons and a clear plastic garbage bag. Cut holes for the head and arms and then secure the bottom around the straddle, after filling the bag with balloons and they can go as a gum ball machine. A mummy is easy to make when using an old sheet, torn into strips and then wrapped all around the body. A trip to the thrift store can offer many ideas for costumes, from fairies, scarecrows and hobos. Children love dressing up like mom and dad, so you might consider allowing them to wear something from your closet.

When picking the perfect Halloween costume, always consider safety first, such as wearing flame-retardant materials and masks that do not obstruct a clear view of the area around the person wearing a mask. Also, you should make sure that when out trick or treating that children wear some type of reflective material and carry a flash light, so they are easily seen by passing motorist. When its cold out, make sure your Halloween costume is large enough to accommodate wearing warm clothing underneath, while if it is warm weather, your costume should not be so thick and bulky as to cause uncomfortable overheating while wearing it.

Halloween is a mysterious and interesting time of the year for make believe and masquerade, whether you are a child or an adult, whether you choose to be ghoulishly creepy or whimsically charming, above all stay safe and have a wonderful Halloween when wearing your ultimately perfect Halloween costume. You're now on your way to having the ultimate Halloween.

Adult's Pink Panther Halloween Costume

Making your Halloween decorations more creative is something we all wish we could do, and this article will give you a great example which will surely spur your own creativity. Every Halloween, my sister and my neighbor compete to see who can turn their home into the spookiest haunted house. This year, they were both surprised when my nephew put them all to shame with his own version!

He put together several themed rooms, and then unified the rest of the house to make it all seamlessly creepy. He did this using spider webs, (don't worry, they were fake), and placing them everywhere, including on the stairs! He also strategically attached plastic bats to the corners in various rooms; in fact he even hung one from the family room chandelier. Then, he took a few paper skeletons and artistically affixed them to the walls so that they looked like they were caught in action. One of them was placed in such a way that it looked like it was walking into my sister's bedroom. Another appeared to be peeking out from the basement door. But my favorite skeleton was the one that you saw upon entering the house, he was grinning at you from behind the couch!

He also transformed their boring, everyday kitchen into a spooky witch's cooking spot. And what she's cooking you surely don't want to know! First, he a hung a paper cutout of a witch by the place where their mop was kept. Then he turned the mop into a witch's broom with some cleverly placed decoration. Finally he purchased and placed a sinister looking cauldron on the stove, so the witch could work on her potions. Something creepy was most certainly cooking in this kitchen!

Still, I have to say that my favorite room by far was that of my niece. Never would we have expected that this room could become a tribute to creepiness, as my niece is one the cutest little girls you would ever see, with the most extensive collection of adorable stuffed animals around. She has bunnies, kitty cats, teddy bears, and monkeys among others. My nephew cleverly decided to use those plush toys in his Halloween theme. Many of them he turned in to ghosts, using white handkerchiefs with holes poked for their eyes. He even secured them with a small strap so that it looked like they were hovering creepily. He utilized the natural devilishness of her stuffed raccoon, figuring that he already had a mask, so he'd just add a chain and plastic knife so it would truly look like he was up to no good. The rest of the animals he turned in to vampires. For example, my favorite one was a teddy bear that he dressed up with a black clothe for a "cape," and white fangs cut from paper. Teddy Dracula was born!

As you can see, with just a little bit of creativity you can turn your ordinary home into a true haunted house! Of course, my nephew won the decorating competition with his great ideas. We're all thrilled to see what he'll come up with next year, maybe this time my niece's teddy bears will become a gargoyle! I hope his example will inspire you to create your own creepy Halloween haunts! Remember, with just a little creativity you can turn your own home into something amazing.

Roseanne: Halloween Edition

Most TV shows celebrated the holiday season with warm & fuzzy Christmas specials. But for the cast, crew and creators of ROSEANNE, the years best celebrations always belonged to Halloween. In these seven classic episodes, the Conners unleash tricks and treats on one of the greatest sitcoms in television history
Customer Review: Awsome!
We grew up watching this TV show and Halloween has always been a big holiday for our family. This collection put together all of the Halloween episodes on one disc. They left out the episode from the last season which is fine because the after the Connor's won the lottery the show wasn't funny anymore. The quality and layout on the DVD is excellent!
Customer Review: Excellent!
I gave this as a gift to a Roseanne fan, and she loved it. The Halloween episodes were very good, and having all of them (except the last)on one disc is great.

Computer Backup- Forget About It!

Backup Software is for the birds! Computer Backup is too hard, too much trouble and a pain in the butt. Lets just forget about it.

Backup Software is touted as the savior of your computers critical business and personal files. They claim that all computer hard drives (where our files are stored) eventually will have a 100% failure rate. They try to tell us that the failure of our hard drives is just a matter of WHEN, not IF.

Do your backups they shout!

Poppycock!

BACKUP SOFTWARE- LETS GET REAL

You and I know the real story. The real story is that new computers are so well made that they almost never fail, right?

Therefore, we dont need to worry about buying backup software and setting up a computer backup system, do we? It would just be a waste time-- for sure!

After all we know that all the press about hard drive failures, natural disasters and terrorist attacks is just a conspiracy by the backup software companies to get us to buy their products.

Personally I never had a hard drive failure (that I recall). If my computer stops working for whatever reason, thats life.

Therefore, I ignore these software backup companies that try to push their backup software products on the unsuspecting public even though they make data and file restorations easy. I dont give them the time of day.

Therefore as you see, I dont need backup software, do you? Of course not.

BACKUP SOFTWARE- STARTING OVER WITHOUT IT IS EASY

In the unlikely event that I got a virus or a bunch of spyware on my computers Ill just bite the bullet and move on. After all, if I lost all my data to a virus, then so what? Who needs backup software?

Heck, Id just buy a new computer and begin again and Id still wouldnt need backup software because its just too much hassle.

If ALL my business data was lost due to a hard drive crash or virus corruption then Id just start my business over. No big deal. Its not that hard, right? Using backup software is just a pain.

BACKUP SOFTWARE FOOLISHNESS

So by now were all agreed that using backup software for computer backup is just for the foolish, right? Right.

Who would want to use backup software that automatically and easily backs up EVERYTHING on your computer hard drive to a DVD Rewriteable disk or USB external hard drive? That would mean you could easily recover from any computer disaster. That makes too much sense and is far too logical.

They claim that backup software is a virtual computer insurance policy against fire, flood, theft, earthquake, hurricanes, tornados and terrorist attacks.

Balderdash!

Ridiculous.

Hey, the businesses who survived Hurricane Katrina didnt need backup software did they? OK, OK I admit a lot of businesses without backup software and off site backup lost EVERYTHING and now they cannot recover their data and reconstitute their business. But thats life. Now these businesses and their employees can now move on to something new. How exciting!

Look, life without backup software is just so much more interesting.

By the way, did I tell you how much I enjoy playing Russian Roulette?

Did I neglect to mention my brief stay (it was really was only a few days) at the mental hospital? Ahh, thats ancient history. Lets get back to the present.

BACKUP SOFTWARE- THE PRESENT DAY

Want to hear something silly? My friend Ben down in New Orleans owned an insurance company. It made a very good living for him and his family. He didnt believe in backup software either. All his computers were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.

Ben just laughed and said, No problem, this disaster gives me the chance to write the Great American Novel that Ive always dreamed of writing.

What about his 10 employees and his thousands of customers he was asked? Ben said, Heck, things always work out for the best dont they?

What about the income from the business that supported his family he was asked? Ben said, Oh, FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) told me they would take care of us and not to worry.

See, Ben is all set and is none the worse for wear even though he didnt have backup software.

BACKUP SOFTWARE LESSONS

So boys and girls what have we learned about this backup software thing?

* If we dont have backup software, so what, it just makes life after a hard drive crash more interesting and fun.

* After a natural disaster that destroys your computers, FEMA will make it OK.

* All the hubbub about backup software is just a bunch of advertising hype to sell product.

* Just because you like to play Russian Roulette, you arent really crazy.

FINALLY- BACKUP SOFTWARE FOLLYIES

I know another guy, Carl Jordan, who is crazier than I am. Carl and the rest of the loonies at Tweak All Consultants (www.tweakspeed.com) actually believe backup software can save your bacon.

In my own strange way I try to be fair and balanced. Therefore
if you disagree with me check out Carls review of backup software at Backup Software

Now, wheres my medication? My meds really smooth me out. They also help me forget about rational things like computer backup and backup software.

Jack Back has been in the computer business since 1983 as an IT executive and working computer consultant company owner. He has helped many clients after a computer crash who had no computer backup. Happy Clown Adult Halloween Costume Size Standard (D49366) (DF26)

Happy Clown Adult Halloween Costume includes: Jumpsuit and collar. Size Standard fits up to Size 44.

Know that you can have a beautiful, joyous Christmas even during these times. One of the first things Unplug the Christmas Machine by Jo Robinson and Jean Coppock Staeheli suggests is to gather as a family and recall exactly what makes Christmas so special. For some families it may be decorating the Christmas tree and that first time you turn on the Christmas lights. Or a drive in the family car to see neighbors' homes decorated for the season. Gather ideas from your family to help discover exactly what would create the best Christmas for all of you.

Realize that your Christmas may have to scale down from original plans. If your family was planning on celebrating Christmas in Hawaii, this may not be the year if Mom and Dad haven't received end of the year bonuses or someone has lost their job. Even less lofty goals, like getting a new giant screen television may be on the chopping block in many households. Try coming up with an alternative for your family celebration or gift and know that there will always be another time.

Children are pretty darned smart when it comes to understanding when a family is in trouble. They can often read the signs if there is financial trouble. Mom or Dad is a little short tempered. Or there are less trips to the movies or other "usual" activities. Parents should understand that children are often less concerned about what gifts they receive, but simply want to know that their family is going to be okay. Everything you can do to reassure them and make their Christmas as regular and typical as possible is best. This means serving a nice holiday meal and giving them a gift or two to open. Most families -- even during tough times -- can manage to reach this goal.

Be on the lookout for inexpensive and free Christmas activities. Your church and local community center should have family Christmas activities that you can bring your children to celebrate the season. This is a great way to augment their holiday activities. Most churches have a Christmas Pageant which children enjoy appearing in. Or children can sing in the church choir for Christmas.

Trust that the retail stores are looking for you to buy -- the bargains will be there. Every parent wants to be able to provide for their child, and this includes the "hot" toy they say they want this Christmastime. While you may not be able to give them as many toys this year, know that every retail store is even more concerned about the Recession as you are. They have bills to pay, a store to keep open, employees to pay. Stores are closing every day. Many stores are holding doorbuster type of deals simply to get you in the door. Learn to be a savvier shopper and investigate which store has the toys you need -- and get there early!

New Year's Resolutions: Develop 10 Really Good Daily Habits

Good habits, which bring our lower passions and appetites under automatic control, leave our natures free to explore the larger experiences of life. Too many of us divide and dissipate our energies in debating actions which should be taken for granted. Ralph W. Sockman

Most of us have at least some habits that we know do not support our well-being and success. Experts say that in order to break a habit, you need to replace it with a different habit. So, lets take out the habits that drain you, and add habits that give you energy! These things can be pleasurable things that nurture and restore you!

Here are some ideas to get you thinking (remember these daily habits will be different for everyone!):

  • Take a bubble bath

  • Go for a walk

  • Write in your journal

  • Write a thank you note

  • Call a friend

  • Do 10 minutes of stretching

  • Have lunch out under a tree instead of at your desk

  • Get to bed a half hour earlier

  • Wake up a half hour earlier

  • Brush your dog (or cat!)
  • The idea is not to add habits that you feel you SHOULD do - rather, to add habits that you would really LOVE to do because you know they will make you better able to enjoy life and do the things you must do!

    Many people have a very difficult time with this. They are so stressed out and so guilt-ridden that they cant imagine doing anything for themselves on a daily basis!

    A couple of tips to integrate these new daily habits:

  • Develop some sort of visual reminder. Most of us are so busy with full lives, it is helpful to have some kind of daily reminder until the habit becomes just that - a habit!
  • Try adding just one of your 10 daily habits at a time. It's less overwhelming, and you'll likely experience greater success!
  • So, write down your list of 10 daily habits, and start enjoying yourself today!

    Give Your Pets a Safe and Happy Halloween

    1. Don't leave your pets outside on Halloween or the days preceding it. This can be a very dangerous time for animals, especially black cats, when Halloween pranks committed against pets can be vicious. Every year there are malicious people who steal, torture, tease, or even kill pets on Halloween. The ASPCA and other pet organizations warn to keep ALL cats indoors and NEVER keep your dog in a car.

    2. Halloween candy is for people, not pets. Chocolate, for example, can be deadly to pets. Keep your pets away from candy wrappers, tin foil, cellophane candy wrappers and lollipop sticks which can get lodged in their digestive tracts and cause injury or even death. There are many safe pet treats available to have on hand and many recipes for making homemade dog and cat treats. Teach everyone in your home, especially children, about the dangers of giving candy to pets and warn them about leaving candy wrappers on the floor. Take your child's candy and keep it out of reach from all pets in a closed closet or drawer. Dispose of candy wrappers before your pets can get to them and keep garbage cans tightly sealed.

    Some signs that may require immediate veterinarian attention are:

    * excessive drooling

    * excessive urination

    * pupil dilation

    * vomiting and diarrhea

    * muscle tremors and seizures

    * hyperactivity

    * coma

    3. Children love getting dressed up in costumes at Halloween, but for pets costumes can be extremely uncomfortable, annoying, stressful and even hazardous. If you do dress up your pets, be sure the costume doesn't affect their ability to breathe, see, hear, smell, move, or bark. Masks are not a good idea for pets as they affect their ability to see. Animals depend on their sight to know what's going on and even the sweetest dog can get snippy if he doesn't know what's going on around him.

    Injuries from Halloween costumes can include:

    * Eye abrasions from sharp objects attached to masks or costumes

    * Burns from flammable costumes ignited by open flames such as candles or Jack 'O Lanterns

    * Skin irritations or rashes from decorative face paints or cremes

    4. If you use candles in pumpkins, be sure to keep them out of the way of curious paws and noses. The lit pumpkin can get knocked over and cause a fire and cause deadly burns on your pet.

    5. You might want to consider keeping your pet is a separate room when trick-or-treaters ring the doorbell. Strangers can frighten pets and even more so in strange costumes.

    6. Be sure when you open the door that your pet doesn't run out when you hand out candy. You might want to consider keeping a pet gate in front of your door to block access in case your pet decides to chase after a trick-or-treater. You may want to crate your pet and be sure to provide plenty of fresh water, chew toys, a favorite blanket, or a piece of clothing with your scent on it to soothe your pet. Soft music can also soothe your pet during this stressful time.

    7. If you do decide to let your dog greet visitors at the door, consider keeping him/her on a leash. A frightened dog can lunge, growl or bite. It will also keep him safe from running away or getting hit by a car.

    8. Be sure you have proper Pet ID tags on so if your pet does run out, he/she has a better chance of being returned to you. Now is a good time to look at your pet's collar and update any old information like phone number and address. Also, information must be clear, so if your pet has old ID tags with name, address or phone number rubbed out, now's a great time to get that replaced.

    9. If your animal is very high strung, instead of tranquilizers from your vet. Bach Rescue Remedy works really well it contains a special blend herbal and homeopathic ingredients known for their calming and soothing effect. Bach Rescue Remedy is a natural remedy with no risk of side effects or addiction and can be safely used by animals of all ages and sizes. You can find it at most health food stores.

    10. Remember, your pets can't tell you what's wrong and what bothers them. They may be more frightened by all the noise, activity and strange people than you think. Be sympathetic and treat them as you would any frightened child. Always have your local Animal Emergency phone number available in case your pet does get into something he/she shouldn't.
